SOAR
adolescent program
SOAR’s adolescent treatment program is
a flexible group therapy program, which runs in 8-week cycles. This
format allows for the addition of new members only at the beginning of
each cycle in order to provide a secure non-disruptive treatment
environment for the
group members. After the completion of 10 weeks teens
are reevaluated to determine the level of care that is currently
required. At the juncture several options are available: they can
continue in the existing group therapy format for an additional 8 weeks,
they can be referred for additional individual or family therapy, or they
might be successfully discharged from the program.
At the onset of treatment each teen is
seen for two assessment interviews with their non-offending parent(s) if
possible (children in foster care or who are living away from home are not
required to have their parents participate). Most teens will also
participate in individual and/or family treatment in addition to the group
therapy program depending on what their situation warrants. Concurrent
with the adolescent therapy group, a group for non-offending parents and
caregivers is also offered.
