Survivors Of Abuse In Recovery, Inc

Sexual abuse and other forms of abuse and trauma teach victims - often when they are very young - that they cannot have  control  of their lives...their bodies...

their relationships...

their  ability to make choices about how they manage their affairs.   Treatment provides opportunity,

encouragement, and support for learning that the power to manage our lives is in fact within ourselves.

The SOAR adult program

In addition to individual psychotherapy, SOAR provides treatment to adults in a three-phase group program: each phase has a specific focus and goal:

Phase I:  Safety and stabilization:  This twelve week psychoeducational program is designed to help clients develop personal safety and stability in their lives.

Topics include family relationships, support networks, boundary setting, safety plans, and understanding the traumatic impact of sexual abuse.

Phase II - Working through trauma:  This sixteen-week program follows a Gestalt group therapy model and is designed to give clients opportunities to recount memories of abuse in a safe environment, to safely experience and express emotional reaction, and to receive and provide emotional support.

Phase III - Reconnection:  This twelve-week program, in the form of a traditional group therapy model, is client directed and deals with healthy sexuality and intimacy including how to make positive lifestyle and relationship choices.

An optional Phase IV program provides aftercare for clients who have completed the three phrases of the group program.  Clients who enroll in Phase IV meet to work on their personal recovery goals with professional staff and others in recovery.
