How is SOAR funded?
SOAR offers fee subsidies based on individual need and no client is turned away based on his/her inability to pay. We first access a clients insurance to pay for treatment but if a client is uninsured, runs out of insurance and is unable to afford treatment, we depend on the generous donations of our funders to help subsidies their treatment.
Currently 25% of our revenue comes from insurance or other fee for service providers. Another 20% comes from government grants through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and Grant-in-Aid. The remainder comes from Foundations, Corporations and Individuals
Foundations, corporations and organizations that supported SOAR in 2008 include: Ammon Family Foundation, Astra Zeneca, Avon Products Foundation, Bank of America, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, Chichester duPont Foundation, Christ Church of Christiana Hundred, Crittenton Foundation, DuPont, Fund For Women, Good Samaritan Foundation, Longwood Foundation, Valero Delaware City Refinery, Verizon, Wilmington Flower Market, Wilmington Trust, and WSFS Bank
Grant funding is extremely important to SOAR since 75% of clients have either exhausted their health insurance benefits or are uninsured and have severely limited financial resources.
