2002-2003 Client Satisfaction Survey comments:
“I'm very thankful for SOAR and the therapists. I have made
tremendous progress in becoming a survivor and letting go of the
victim's role. The group in which I was involved was very committed
to helping one another. I would recommend SOAR to anyone who is
looking for help. Thank you for all your help and support.”
“I have been so
blessed to have gone through this. I have grown a lot and have
learned so much. ...Thank you ... for an enriching experience.” |
SOAR’S mission
 |
Treatment:
SOAR provides
readily accessible, confidential recovery services to survivors of
sexual abuse and their families, regardless of their ability to pay.
|
 |
Prevention:
Early
reporting and treatment are central to a victim’s recovery and the
prevention of further victimization. When an individual does not
receive appropriate treatment and thus be able to go on to recovery,
the results can include: revictimization, inadequate parenting or
inability to protect their children from victimization, severe
psychiatric disabilities, drop in productivity at school, work and
home, and lost time from work. Additionally, some sex crimes are
perpetrated by untreated victims of sexual abuse.
|
 |
Education:
SOAR’s clinicians provide educational
services to help children know when abuse is occurring, and how to get
help. SOAR also provides educational information to other professions
such as teaching and nursing, to upgrade their skills in obtaining
proper treatment for sexual abuse/assault victims. |

"Do we really believe that more children are sexually abused than wear
braces? Than take piano lessons? Than go to summer camp? Than play in
Little League? It is hard to wrap your mind around the statistics so
often cited-that one in three girls and one in seven boys are sexually
molested as children.”
